Waist Trainer Size: How to Know The Right Size To Buy

Are you considering wearing a corset or waist trainer popularly known as girdle by most women, but you want to know what corset style and size will work best on your body? You can only be convinced when you try them on but if you are planning on buying one online, this article will give serve as a guideline to picking a perfect match for your body type. Read on

Are you looking to create a more curvaceous appearance? Then you can purchase enhancers for your hips and fanny. Between the overbust and underbust corset accentuating the bust and the hip/bum, you'll be able to create a more dramatic hourglass figure. Do you have a full bust, small bust, long torso, short torso, wide hips, or no hips? The good news is there is a style out there to suit your figure type.

Things to Consider When shopping for a Corset/Waist Trainer

  1. Knowing the right size of corset for you: Some waist trainers are designed to reduce your waist by 4–5 inches (10.2–12.7 cm), while some are designed to reduce it further, to around 6–7 inches (15.2–17.8 cm) smaller than the natural size of your waist.
  2. Consider buying a corset that is that will suit your body structure. Women come in many different shapes, including tall, petite, curvy, and slim
  3. Corset Style: Which style do you prefer?

Three Options to Consider when Buying a Waist Trainer or Corset

  • Overbust: For someone with a large bust, Overburst supports your breasts from the waist line up.
  • Underbust: If you have a moderate or small sized bust, go for an underbust.
  • Do you want your corset to fasten at the front?

Waist Trainer Size Chart

Most women choose Corsets by merely by looking at it that it will fit and sometimes by Bust Size. This is actually a very good idea. Often, you have also bought bra without trying them on, only to find out when you get it home that your bust size is too big or rather too small to fit right?

Take your measurements with a tape measure.

  • If you are buying your corset off the rack you will need to know your waist measurement and, if you are buying an overbust corset, the measurement around your bust.
  • If you are ordering a custom corset online they will tell you what measurements they need. This will probably include the measurements around your bust, just below your bust, your waist (the smallest part of your torso; below your ribs and above your hips).
  • They will also need to know the vertical distance between each of these measurements in order to give you the best fit possible.
  • If you are buying a custom made corset from a shop, they should fit you for the corset there, and you won't need to take any of your own measurements.

If you would like to make your waist a little more defined, then choose a corset that will enhance the bust line, by choosing the right sized corset. Buy one size smaller than your normal size.

Corset or Girdle Size Chart

For every woman, the bust is a focal point, enhancing the burst area to look your very best in a corset will give you a better appearance in a corset.

If your bust smaller, then you may want to try enhancing your bust size by using a breast pad or silicon thereby creating the illusion of a larger bust making you look taller in a corset.

Measuring for a Boning Corset

Steel or Plastic boning is designed to reduce your waist size by 4-5”. If you’re looking for drastic waste reduction you need to start waist training which takes time. E.g If your waist measures 32'' we will still suggest you buy a 27'' or 28” corset.

You will need:
  • Measure Tape: The tape should be comfortable – not tight enough to cause any protruding of your flesh from either side and not loose enough to slip a finger.
  •
  • A Straight Back: Stand straight; avoid holding your tummy in
  •
  • Full Length Mirror: To see yourself while you are measuring.

If you are petite in size and have a small bust, then try an underbust corset. This corset style will break up the span of your torso more. Not only will your bust look larger /fuller, it will also elongate the legs, creating a taller looking you.

Some corset brands are indeed waist cinchers. They might look like an ordinary waist band/belt but with a few corset features.
Finally, note that an underbust corset is far less obvious than an overbust corset underneath your clothing, it is also important to get a corset that gives you an hourglass figure and accentuates your attributes as a woman.

    1. Yes you can. Sleeping in your waist trainer will not be as comfortable as you envisage for you or your internal organs and you might wake up struggling to breathe. Waist trainer or corset time limit is 6 hours but if you are comfortable wearing either of them for a longer period, then it is not a problem rather it would help you achieve that hourglass shape you so desire but your health definitely come first.
