Infants grow faster than we envisage and breastfeeding alone cannot meet the nutritional requirement
of a child in the first and second year. When a child is about four months of
age, the child needs supplementary feeding and this is the point where the low
cost homemade foods with adequate nutrients and energy are introduced to
compliment with breastmilk.
Infant weaning foods are carefully formulated to equate a balanced nutrition for babies and the raw materials like the soya beans and crayfish are high in protein and energy nutrition. These ingredients are produce from our locally available farm produce like corn, millet, soya beans, plantain and groundnuts, they easy to prepare.

Thanks a lot but is it ok to ground the soya beans wet together with millet and guinea corn .
ReplyDeleteIt depends on your baby's age, infant generally do not easily digest wet soya beans. It is best given to them after it has been fried and grounded to powder because frying reduces the acid level contained in it.
DeleteWhat about corn, millet, and soya bean and crayfish mix together.
ReplyDeleteIt is an awesome idea to mix them but the "soya beans must be fried" before taking it to the mill for grinding to reduce the acidity level so that your baby can easily digest it
Deletecan i add groundnut to the soya beans and guinea corn
ReplyDeleteYes you can. groundnut is rich in nutrients such as Protein, Potassium, Vitamin B-6, Iron, Magnesium and Carbohydrate for energy. it also acts as a dietary fiber which helps your baby's bowel movement for easy evacuation - this helps avert pile in infants.

ReplyDeleteAfter frying the soya bean to be able to remove the chaff, can I grind other things dry or wet. I mean corn, millet, guinea corn, crayfish and groundnut
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, after you can grind other things like groundnut and the rest dry to make it easy for you; expecially in a situation where you hardly have light to refrigerate the akamu (millet, guinea corn or maize). ReplyDeleteI don't still understand the process.is it that after removing the shaft of the soyabean ,you blend all together.i mean wet
ReplyDeleteThen when u want to cook it ,do u prepare it like normal way u prepare pap?
No. After washing the soya beans and peeling off its back, dry it , after drying, you fry the soya beans before grinding both the soya beans, millet and crayfish until it becomes "very very smooth". After which you can cook it on fire by preparing it it like pap.
DeleteDo I have to fry the millet just like the soya beans? Or just grind the millet without frying?
ReplyDeleteGrind it dry together with crayfish and the fried soya beans "but" ensure to pick out stones
DeleteGoodday mam, plz I want 2mk a grinded crayfish(powdered) separately in a container...what are d process...Will rinsing be included...Thanks mam
ReplyDeleteYou can rinse it if want but as long as you have an oven where you can easily dry it but first of all carefully pick out dirts and shells from the crayfish before grinding. Rnsing is optional since you will still boil it
DeletePlease ma do I need to wash all of them before frying them?
