Must Have Baby Items for first time Mothers (A Guide for Nigerian Mothers)

If you are pregnant and almost due for delivery, yet not certain on what the essential items to buy before your newborn baby arrives, this article is for you. Below are things you need to buy as an expectant mother but it is important to plan ahead on a budget. This has to be done by first making shopping list for newborn baby for everything you need to buy before your baby arrives. Read on 

Before making your first baby preparation shopping list, you need to create a birth plan as seen below:

Newborn Baby Shopping List for First Time Moms

The first set of baby clothes you will buy ranges from 0-3months, 3-6 and so on. For diapers, start with mini, midi before and ensure you do not buy lots of them. It will surprise you to know that babies outgrow clothes, diapers and shoes quickly. 

Clothing

Body suits (sleep suits or overall) 
Onesis 
Caps and head warmers
Socks 
Mittens 
Shawls or flannels

Baby Feeding

Hot water flask
Baby bottles 
Brush for washing baby bottles
Warmer if bottle feeding 
Bibs
Milton or Baby bottle Sterilizing kit (optional)
Plastic bucket with lid for sterilizing baby bottles
Breast pump (optional) if you are a working class mother

Baby Bathing

Bathing set
Baby soap or shower gel, lotion, oil and powder
Olive oil (if you are preparing for delivery before the 9th month)
Comb or brush 
Wash clothes 
Soft towels (2 or 3)

Beddings

Bed sheets
Blankets
Mosquito net 

Baby Toiletries

Diapers (cotton or disposable) mini size for the first three months 
Wipes  

Health Kit

Digital thermometer (you can get one for 1,000 in pharmacy) 
Cotton wool
Spirit or rubbing alcohol 
Sudocrem

Diaper Bag 
Baby rack, dryer, hanger for drying baby's clothes after washing
