Is your baby ready for solid? Below are homemade super healthy baby food for Nigerian babies and toddlers. These Homemade Baby Foods are nutritious, healthy, affordable and easy to prepare – Pap is a nutritious homemade baby food in Nigeria is referred to as akamu, ogi or pap, it is prepared with groundnut and soya beans milk. This healthy baby food is a brilliant way to giving your baby nutritious diet.
In the preparation of this food, it may interest you to know that you can use millet, guinea corn, sorghum (gero), corn or either of any of the two mixed with groundnut and soya beans to make your baby’s pap.
Groundnut, Soya Beans, Millet and Crayfish
Step 1
Groundnut: Slightly fry the groundnut until it becomes easy to peel
Step 2
Soya Beans: Pick out the stone wash and dry the soya beans before frying- After frying take the soya beans to the mill, ensure they remove the chaff. After removing the chaff you can now grind (you may wish to grind both the soya beans and ground nut together)
Step 3
Crayfish (remove shells and dirt in it)
Step 4
Millet or Dawa (Be careful to pick out stones from it, wash and soak in water for a day and blend), after grinding ensure you sieve to remove chaff. When you are done, please preserve the fresh pap well enough to avoid fermenting.
Corn, Groundnut, Soya Beans and Crayfish
Step 1
Corn or Maize: Carefully pick out stones, wash and soak in water for 3 day and grind thoroughly x4) but ensure you wash and change the water every morning before grinding.
When you are done with the grinding, you don’t have to remove the chaff because it aids your baby’s digestion. Just ensure you preserve the fresh pap very well to avoid fermentation.
Step 2
Groundnut: Slightly fry the groundnut until it becomes easy to peel and blend
Step 3:
Soya Beans: Pick out the stone wash and dry the soya beans before frying – when you are done frying take it to the mill and ask them to remove the chaff, after removing the chaff you can now grind (you may grind both the soya beans and the ground nut together)
Step 4:
Crayfish (remove shells and dirt in it) and blend
Millet, Soya Beans and Crayfish
Please Note: If you are not comfortable with the chaff, you could as well sieve out the chaff. The advantage is that the chaff is fiber and that fiber will help your baby empty his bowel easily – to avoid constipation or pile in infants.
